Preparations Underway for Upcoming Everest Climb
It is less than 3 weeks now before I fly out of Meridian Regional Airport headed for Katmandu, Nepal. We will spend a day or two there making preparations and then will fly to Lukla to begin the 10 day trek in to Everest Base Camp (EBC).
Fortunately for me, my health has really come around following a diverticulitis diagnosis and having had COVID last August. I’ve been training very hard and recovering well. Meanwhile, over in Nepal the Sherpas at Kaitu Expeditions have begun working very hard to make ready for the 6 to 8 week climb.
As you can see in the pictures below, it takes a lot of food and shelter for a trip like this.
I recently was made aware that we will be part of a very international group including 10 or more climbers from China, a couple from Canada and a couple more from Iceland. I’m very excited to meet this challenge with climbers from around the world.
The good news for now is entry restrictions have been eased for Nepal and there is no longer a five day quarantine requirement.
The plan is to continue to blog throughout the travels and climb with some really cool photos and GoPro videos. I can’t wait to share this experience with friends and family.
